The Dominion Building is a designated Class “A” heritage structure, located on the edge of Gastown. The Dominion Building was Vancouver’s first steel-framed high-rise, and the thirteen-storey, Second Empire style building was the tallest commercial building in the British Empire upon its completion in 1910. Gastown is central to Vancouver’s position as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, providing a rich, textured backdrop for the neighbourhood’s vanguard group of entrepreneurs.
