191 Alexander is the ground floor (with its own address & entrance on Alexander St.) of ONE NINETY FIVE, the landmark Eastern gateway to Gastown. This is a historically and architecturally significant building with an interesting story. It is a wood frame warehouse masterpiece of the prominent architectural firm Maclure and Fox and specifically the work of Cecil Croker Fox, who was a lieutenant in WW1 and was killed in action in 1916. It is a monument to an architectural style called Edwardian Free Rationalism, a style that sought to express structure and function, common in England, but unusual in Vancouver in 1910 when it was built.
With a private entrance off of the sidewalk, right at the exciting junction of Gastown, Railtown and Chinatown.... this space boasts so much potential, with exposed brick and fir beams, 16' ceilings, huge North and South facing windows, AND a gorgeous mezzanine.
